The Las Vegas Strip is OPEN!

6.15.20

Finally, after 2 ½ months, the strip has re-opened! Although, as of today, the entire Strip isn’t completely open, but a large part of it is. Casinos like Aria, Park MGM, Mandalay Bay, Bally’s and Paris are still closed. That includes the parking structures for each, along with the restaurants inside. While Vegas is slowly opening back up, we had to take a trip to The Strip to see what was happening!

Where was our first stop? Giordano’s of course 🤤 Why Giordano’s? To be honest, I had posted a video of the epic cheese pull from our last visit and it got me craving that deep dish, cheesy, flaky- crust all over again! Plus, the restaurant is at Bally’s Bazaar shops so you don’t have to walk through a casino and it has easy parking (or so I thought).

When we drove to The Strip, we assumed we could still park at the Paris/Bally’s parking structure to make for an easy walk, but it was closed. We ended up parking behind the LINQ’s High Roller and hoofed it over. Now that I know what to expect, I would recommend everyone else Park at Bellagio and walk over. Yes, it’s still a walk (what isn’t on The Strip?) and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The walk is still long, but it’s a much safer and easier walk than the one we did.

Okay, so now for the good stuff! We get to Giordano’s where the hostess greeted us with a mask and walked us to our socially distanced table, inside. We could have opted to sit downstairs and outside, but it was especially warm and I wanted to see how they were operating inside.

The waitress greeted us with a mask and gloves. My personal opinion on gloves, might be the unpopular opinion, but I cannot stand them! I would rather the employees wash their hands. I think gloves make the problem worse, especially if the server brings my cup to the bar to be washed and then grabs another glass and brings it to a different table. My germs are now on the clean glass, see what I mean? Anyway- I digress.

The server was so sweet and after we ordered, she asked if we wanted reusable plate and flatware or disposable. I kind of liked the option, but we went with disposable because I wanted to see what it was like.

Our pizza arrived 45 minutes later (deep dish takes that long so I recommend an appetizer beforehand) and it was as cheesy and gooey as ever!!! Take a look at this CHEESE PULL!!

After Casey (my husband) devoured THREE pieces and I had my one, we took home the rest. I didn’t want to stay for long, but the trip alone was so much fun. It was refreshing and quite the adventure to get out of the house!

Although it still doesn’t feel like the typical Las Vegas Strip, I’m confident it will be coming back before we know it. I just hope it happens sooner than later!

More to come.
